About Our Program

The Butte | Anaconda Summer Jobs Program (BASJP) matches students with a job or paid internship, provides a paid foundational work skills training, and connects students with mentoring for the summer. BASJP participants are high school age youth and recent graduates eager to develop their work skills and explore their career options. The program expands access to high quality summer work experiences for students in the Anaconda and Butte areas. Participating area businesses and community organizations help strengthen the local economy by connecting youth to meaningful work experiences.

ABSJP Specifics:

• BASJP placements run from early June to mid-August.

• Participating employers agree to provide a paid position in a safe, productive work environment.

• Students will average at least 25 hours/week for a minimum of 150 hours. Some students will work full-time and some will work part-time, depending on employer's need.

• Students will complete a paid foundational work skills training workshop before the summer.

• Students will meet with a mentor at least 5 times during the summer.

• BASJP cannot guarantee internship or job placement, due to applicant availability or qualifications.

Applying youth must:

• Have a current photo ID and a Social Security number.

• Be 16-19 years old (for priority placement).

• Successfully pass a drug screening and background check, if required by their host employer.

• Have transportation to the job site.
